pop feeling through arm rest
pop feeling through arm rest
last time i had a friend in the car and he had his arm on the armrest and during WOT switching 1st-2nd in my A4 he felt a big pop through the arm rest. then i floored it again during the 1-2 shift and its a big pop that you can definately feel if your arm is there. he suggested possibly being something with wheel hop since it chirps the tires? i also searched and found something almost similar where the case was a trans mount. any ideas? under normal driving everything is fine, its just when its enough throttle to chirp the tires that it does it.
also wasn't sure which subforum to put this in, but since my only idea was a trans mount i figured i'd put it here

yea i'm pretty sure the mounts are the problem, had the car on ramps earlier to retighten the header bolts because one was loose. i found a good site that sells them so i guess i'll have something to keep me busy with next weekend
It could be wheelhop causing the torque arm to smack the tranny around. My M6 car did that at WOT gear changes until I eliminated the wheelhop (LCA's and RLB's), and removed the TA from the trans with an underbody mounted TA.
I had the same thing happen after a hard shift. The bolt holding the clamshell together that pinches the torque arm and holds it in place backed out.
When my tranny mount went south it would only make noise on a hard launch, but the backed out bolt made noise every shift and and if I wasn't smooth on the gas.

I have had the best luck with a stock GM replacement trans mount. I got 3 from autozone and they broke within a month. GM replacement lasted the good portion of last summer and we will see how it holds up this summer.
Most likely the trans mount or TA mount.
I have a friend who used to have a 95 M6 and when he power shifted 2nd gear if your arm was resting on the console it jumped so high it would jam your shoulder into your ear.
