T56 Removal Issue

Hopefully this is a easy one. I'm removing the trans from the bellhousing and I can't get them apart. (Yes, I've disengaged the clutch fork but I still can't pull them apart.) I can get them about 3/16" apart but no more . It appears it's hung up on the dowel pin on the top of the trans on the passenger's side. I know there is a vent tube on top near this area. The vent tube isn't secured to the bell housing is it? I felt around with my hands and it doesn't appear to be. There isn't an 8th bolt hiding on the top of the trans somewhere is there (I removed 7 bolts) ?

Any input would be much appreciated. Hopefully I'm just making a bonehead rookie mistake.

Thanks.

Re: T56 Removal Issue

There are 8 bolts holding the trans to the bell housing. I'm looking at a picture of a spare T56 I used to own, and there is a bolt right below the opening for the clutch fork, one below that about 4", one at the bottom of the trans, one about 6" past that, at about 45* from the bottom, one at the midpoint of the side opposite the clutch fork (there is a dowel pin below this bolt), one above that about 30* above the midpoint, one at the top off-center toward the fork opening, and one about 6" above the fork opening (there is a dowel pin right below this bolt).

As I recall the vent tube has a clip on it that goes under one of the trans-to-bell-housing bolts.

My website is down, but I could e-mail you a copy of the photo is you want.

Re: T56 Removal Issue

Thanks for the reply. It looks like I did make a bonehead rookie mistake. I'm glad I didn't go crazy with the prybar the other night. As soon as I get home I'm going to double check my bolt count and start the search for the 8th bolt.

Thanks again for the help.
