T56 Question.

Hi Guys.
I just would like to know your opinion about, how much power can handle a t56 transmission? Does it need any modification, or it is OK. as is?

Thanks, & have a good weekend.

I think they can stand up to at least 600HP in stock form. How you shift it will determine how long the synchros and shift forks last. G-Force will sell you modified units rated to 900HP. A friend of mine took his stock T56 to 750HP in a 4,000# convertible, and it was still in good shape when he traded to for a TH400 (eventually the LT1 made 1,125HP). Rich Krause certainly got his moneys worth out of his, running a blower and nitrous. Taner had some mods in his, running mid 9's.

How much HP are you planning to throw at it?

My final destination when I get everything, would be around 650-700 horspower.

Do a Viper mainshaft swap and go with steel shift forks. Then just let her fly! I have tons and tons of 5500 RPM launches with a heavy flywheel & slicks. The mainshaft swap is the key. You'll bust 12 bolt rears before the T56 gives up.

Check with D&D for conversion costs for the mainshaft.
