T56 probs...need some help!!

My car is a 95 Trans am M6. Well, the tranny had been doing fine until a couple months ago when the t/o bearing became loose and started to rattle (very annoying). A little while later i was starting to have trouble getting the car into gear and after I had it in gear, it would sometimes pop out of 3rd. I thought maybe the clutch was starting to go so I bought a new Mcleod clutch which I was going to install today. Me and my neighbor dropped the tranny and pulled out the old Valeo, and it still looked to be in pretty good condition. I really don't want to throw in the new clutch and the tranny still be f'd up. Im stumped on what to do next....

I'm seriously thinking its the synchro's but i'm not quite sure. Could it possibly just need new fluids or any other easy fix? Any other suggestions on what could be causing my problems?

TIA guys...

Re: T56 probs...need some help!!

I'm not an expert by any means, but I pulled my son's T56 out a little while ago and with a service manual and an install guide I found with pictures, replaced the 3rd gear synchro blocker, with parts that I bought from D&D for about 100 bucks. I'm mechanically inclined, but I was surprised how easy it really was. For about 250 bucks you can get a synchro kit and a steel 3-4 shift fork. I did this with a modifed, (extended), three jaw puller, some snap ring pliers, on the floor in my garage. I took lots of pictures took my time and it's working fine, really isn't that bad, if you have access to a hydraulic press it would be even easier. Anyways I'd recommend yanking it out and going through it, especially before I put in a Mcleod. You'll have piece of mind and learn something too. As far as easy fixes, usually don't happen for me.
