t56 no neutral!?!? help

Okay guys the other day I had a loud clicking noise turned out the rear end gave up on me to check I disconnected the driveshaft and let it hang from the trans started the car with the clutch to the floor of course then when I started let off the clutch the driveshaft was spinning and my mph went up when the car was in neutral and the car was very hard to get into gear... trans was rebuilt 3k miles ago could the have hurt the trans?

ok, your trans will spin the wheels (ie: driveshaft) when there is no friction. it is just because of the rotating mass and centrifugal force. it should spin slowly..

the only reason it doesnt do it with tires on the ground is because the force of them on the pavement is greater then the force the driveshaft is putting out.

So basically what your saying is this is normal?... the only thing that had me confused is that the mph goes to 5 mph so I thought the trans was hurt?

I don't think there is much else to say other than what yoeasy told you. I do not feel that will be any damage to your tranny. You will find out for sure when you get the car back on the road for a test drive.
