You're going to need a ton of power to need anything more than stock gears. usually, if you are making this much power you wont be wanting to row 6 gears. btw, your sig is kinda freakin me out.

Shifting your own is the only way to go, for fun that is. Btw what is wrong with the sig?

Anyone else known of any sources for aftermarket stronger gears for the T56 (not proshifted)

I would agree, but it'd be hasseling rowing 6 gears on a 9.0 second pass. what kind of power are you looking to put on this t-56? on the sig...something about making sweet love to a motor. lol

Re: T56 gear upgrades

as you well know on a drag strip pass it would be 4 gears.

Eventually when I crank the boost up I would be looking for 900 to 1000 horse (flywheel), but since it is a street car I will probably never be able to 60 foot well enough to pull good times. Hence the trans will most likely be okay (no traction).

A super T-10 has lived so far behind it , but no trips to the track with it (new combo) and now its winter and the tracks dont open here until the end of April.

I got a good deal on the T56 so with my goal to have a near 1000 horse car and beable to go cross country the T56 would bring my crusie RPM down substantially.

I firmly believe with the overdrive I will get 18 mpg(hwy), with the T-10 I got 14mpg @ 65 w/ 3.50 gears and some back road "fun"

I have a bulletproof t-56 from a guy who rebuilds them in INDIANA with steel nitrided gears and steel shift forks, stronger synchos etc etc

Re: T56 gear upgrades

Dfetter84, could you please give me some info on this individual (contact) so I could get info about his transmissions. I would do the work myself but buy the parts through him.

Does he make the gears and have info on them?

Forgot to include the car is a 72 Chevelle not an F-body (inrefrence to my previous posts about mileage and tranmissions)
