T56 Fluid Capacity?

Can someone please confirm the fluid capacity of the six speed transmission in a 1996 Z28?

Is GM Synchromesh still the best fluid to use?

Thanks very much,
Rick

Just under 4 quarts. My dad has mobile 1 in his WS6, and I have the gm stuff in mine, and mine shifts alot smoother than my dad's WS6....

how the heck did you get 8.8 quarts in it? you fill it through the fill hole till it comes out?

It drives like stock, not chatter or anything, but I'm not sure how much longer it's going to last. I did a hard run through 4th gear the other day and the 3-4 shift was soft as hell, so who knows. I mostly drive it easy though, so its holding fine.

Re: T56 Fluid Capacity?

Why dont you just lay under the car and open the fill hole to let out the excess fluid?

Re: T56 Fluid Capacity?

If you open the fill hole and fluid comes out, then there was more than enough in there and you just drained the excess. If nothing comes out, then add a little bit.
