Yesterday while i was driving around town i down shifted and heard a wierd sound. When i tried to upshift again it acted like the clutch was fully engaged and the engine only revved. I pulled my car over to the side of the road and tried to start going again. The car would not catch any gear and would only rev up. I smelled something burning. I looked under the car and noticed that the gasket had blown out of the bottom of the tranny. So is the clutch just fried or what else might be wrong?

Thanks

Sounds like your clutch is done.

Not sure about the gasket. Pics? Not sure how a gasket could "blow out the bottom."

Was there fluid coming down fromt he tranny?. If you werent able to get it in gear more than likely its a slave/master cylinder problem.

It wasn't the whole gasket. You can see what looks like the frayed edges of the gasket sticking out about a quarter of an inch. Sorry but no pics yet

Sorry my step dad wrote this. He was driving my car. I was talking to him about gaskets at the time so i guess he decided to write it in there instead of something else. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
