Unhappy T5 Install Questions

I just 'completed' an A4 to T5 swap. This is the first time I have done any work to a transmission, so bear with me. I have a few questions.

1. When the transmission is engaged, there is a whirrring type of sound. Is this normal?

2. The clutch doesn't engage the transmission to the flywheel until the very top of the petaltravel. Is this normal? It is a brand new Chevy hydraulic setup.

3. The transmission was very hard to install to the bellhousing, could I have warped, dinged, bent something vital. It does have a new throwout bearing but an old, used clutch disk.

4. The transmission slips when put into any gear. I know this isn't normal.

Any one have any ideas on how to properly make this thing run properly?
Thanks.

If this doesn't help, I'll try again.

Re: T5 Install Questions

ok first thing did you use the proper alignment tool. 2nd why would you do all that work and put an old used disk/pressure plate back in? also make sure the system is bled properly any bit of air in the sytem will kill it

Re: T5 Install Questions

As far as I can tell, I used the proper alignment tool.
I used a used pessure plate out of ignorance. The flywheel itself is brand new.
I bought a brang new hydralic clutch from Chevy, prebled.
Thanks

Re: T5 Install Questions

i would bet the pp/disc set is bad. and prebled usually only means that the master cylinder is bled you still have to bleed air out of the rest of the system

Re: T5 Install Questions

I'll try to figure out to bleed the clutch setup.
I have a new clutch on order, it'll get here on Monday. I'm not sure when I'll get to swap out the parts. My next mnth is full of underway time.

Re: T5 Install Questions

I'm not sure what internal / external means. The slave cylinder is attached to the outside of the bellhousing.
