t-56 will not shift into reverse unless key is on - normal?
t-56 will not shift into reverse unless key is on - normal?
I have just finished getting the motor back in the car and the new clutch on and the transmission will not go into reverse unless I have the key turned on. I don't remember this happening before but it has been a while. Is this normal or do I have something hooked up wrong?
Re: t-56 will not shift into reverse unless key is on - normal?
There is an electronice lock out solenoid that only works with the ignition on. Im sure this is your situation.
However it is possible to "muscle" it into reverse if you need to.

lol's.... only it's no worry... but I took mine off... actually it broke, so you have to manually muscle that badboy in reverse... it's a good anti theft feature.

Sounds like the reverse lockout solenoid is working properly
. The solenoid is activated when the ignition is on and the car is moving 3 mph or less to let you shift into reverse easily. Normal operation.

Same here, One of my really good girl-friends had to move my car one morning, she came in and said "Your car is a POS, Reverse is broken" She was sad when I went out and put a little *** into it and it moved right over
I just never hooked mine up after the t_56 swap.
