Question slave pushrod plastic cup question

ive noticed that my clutch does not seem to be releasing completely especially wot. it will refuse to go in gear and grind at high rpms. just cruising around it is not as bad, but it is still grabbing hard when shifting. when i did the a4\m6 swap with all new parts i did not use that cup that was attached to the slave cyl. i figured it was for shipping. i searched and found people asking about the same problem but never found an answer. so, here goes.. does that piece of plastic actually disengage the clutch enough to fix my problem ( due to the depth of the plastic and pushing the clutch fork in further) or is there some other issue? and if yes can i get one without buying a new slave cyl? thx

Mine is gone, and my clutch works fine. Double check that your master and slave are well bled.

The cup is to reduce metal on metal wear and noise. It serves no other purpose at all. Your problem lies elswhere. Maybe the master or the slave.

Re: slave pushrod plastic cup question

thx for the replies, i guess that is good news since i dont have to buy a slave cylinder just for that piece. it (master cylinder)was prebled when i got it but i did open the cap before i knew that. some fluid spilled out so i guess air could have gotten in there. i have put over 7,000 miles on it since the swap and it has always shifted hard. i assumed it was the spec lt4 clutch , but i have no one to compare the feel of the clutch to. since my car has been paid off it gets driven a little harder now,so, the problem has reared its ugly head. i also put my pilot bearing in backwards i think. i put the radiused end in the crank first.any ideas on sorting this out?

Pilot bearings have been know to fail throwing bits of metal everywhere. If you have it in backwards, I'd pull the tranny and replace it.

Re: slave pushrod plastic cup question

ive always worried about that. maybe this summer i can do headers, rear main seal , input shaft seal and pilot BUSHING. getting it out should be the hardest part from what i hear.
