T-56 Rebuild Question

I'm going to rebuild my T-56 and had a question about dropping the tranny. Do I need to remove the complete transmission and bell housing assembly, or can I just un-bolt the tranny from the bell housing while it's in the car and drop just that. Will this require that I remove the clutch fork?

Thanks.

Re: T-56 Rebuild Question

You won't have to remove te bellhousing unless you're removing the clutch. You don't need to mess with the fork either.

Re: T-56 Rebuild Question

If you just remove the tranny from the bell housing you dont have to remove the clutch fork. But if you are replacing the clutch you will have to remove the bell housing after. (This way is much easier). To remove the bell housing you will have to pull out on the clutch fork. The fork will not come all the way out just off of the through out bearing.

Re: T-56 Rebuild Question

Thanks guys, clutch is fine at this point, the problem is with the tranny itself.
