It'll drive just fine. Your going to have incredible top end, not to mention gas mileage will probably increase vs now(given you keep your foot out of the throttle). 6th probably won't even be used unless on the freeway cause R's I assume would be too low on the street. 93' F-bodies came standard with 2.73's in the 6spds and with (I think) a 3.42 option. I do believe the tranny had different internal gearing though which made up for the difference in the rear. It's gonna be an enormous difference when you eventually go from 2.73's to the 4.10's.

Re: T-56 with 2.73's?

2.73s w/ T-56 is ridiculous. Get rid of them and go w/ some 4.10s, or at least 3.73s. Considering you can't even really use 6th gear, you won't really even see a drop in gas mileage when you go to a numerically higher gear. Do you realize that if you have your rev limiter set to 6k you could hit 63 in 1st? Talk about an overdose of OD...

Jay-Roll is right about the different gearing in the '93 gearboxes (including the o/d's). I would think that the car is going to be harder to drive in stop and go traffic, given the difference between the first gear ratios. You'll probably have to slip the clutch a good bit, to get started out (hope you don't have a lot of city driving).

Fifth gear will become interstate only, and forget about 6th. Overall you'll be ok in the short term, but get the new gears as soon as possible.

He could theoretically top out at 271 mph with that combo.

What year did he get the trans out of? Assuming a .5:1 6th it would be 335 mph at 6k rpm...
