Synchro ?
Synchro ?
Started thread over at ls1.com but not much traffic here's what i got so far.
Q: Is there any place i can buy just the 3-4 synchro assembly? I bought a trans and the guy that i bought it from said every once in a while it ground going into 4. He guaranteed no breakage since this was from his daily driver and had never been to the track. It only had 5,000 miles on a rebuild but he thinks the shop screwed up well putting the 3-4 assembly in. What should i look for when I open the transmission up? Also how are the ebay rebuild kits? Do they use the upgraded carbon blocker rings?

A: Yes you can get just a synchro. Problem is , if you hear grinding, its the synchro impacting the gear. It may have a damaged gear as well. I would guess they did not replace the 3/4 fork or use an iron part at the rebuild..
Q: Where can i get just a synchro and how much do they run? The guy said it was a stage 4 rebuild with the carbon syncro's and the steel 3-4 shift fork. Is there anything that the rebuilders could have done wrong that it would only grind once in a while. What kind of damage would it do to the gear? Are you talking about enough damage that I would have to replace the whole gear? Sorry for all the questions but I'm a newb with t56's.
Thanks,
Scott
Any further input would be appreciated.

THe up graded T-56 stuff is pretty expensive...*** far as I know you can buy all the parts seperate...but since you have the Stage 2 setup your cost is even greater....There's a few Viper sites that sell the upgrade parts.
Well i looked on gmpartsdirect.com and they sell individual rings. All 2000 and up came with the carbon synchros right? So i could just replace the rings and blockers with the ones from gmpartsdirect.com right? The only thing is I don't know the part numbers for the 3-4 synchro rings and blockers does anybody know these?
www.hanlonmotorsports.com thats where i got mine from
