Question Switching Auto to Manual?? Need Help!!

Here is the story. I have a 98 Trans Am with a Automatic aka Dogomatic. I have a friend with a 02 Z28 with a manual. He is soon looking to trade it in and he does not mind me swapping them. Mine has like 68k on it his has like 57k on it. He has 3.42's i have 2.73's. Will it all just swap from car to car? I just want to do transmission for transmission. Will the comp's have to be swapped? Will they have to be repragrammed cause of the gear diff? Is it worth swapping the rearends? Being that im swapping it all would it be good to just get a new clutch, slave cylinder and master cylinder? Is it worth all the trouble? Im willing to pay for all the labor. Please give me your feedback. Thanks.

Re: Switching Auto to Manual?? Need Help!!

Well IMO, yes to everything.
Specifically-

Computer tuning will be required, you can't just swap the computers, I don't think later LS1s have EGR.

Definitely swap the rearends. A new slave cylinder would be a good idea while the trans is out. New master is up to you.

Is it worth it? That's up to you, really. It's fun shifting gears, although sometimes I miss my auto. Think about it before you do it. It's quite a bit of work to swap.
