Re: Rear End choice...

I'd go for 3.73. If you have traction control (aka ASR) there are two reluctors which need to be pressed on the ends of the axles. You can re-use the old reluctors, but that is kind of a pain and new ones are ~$75. If you don't have ASR, just be sure to tell them you want the single, sifferential mounted ABS reluctor included, assuming you want to keep ABS functionality.

Talking to them is a good idea, they know this stuff pretty well. As far as other "options", you can get one of those trick aluminum covers. Mostly just eye candy though they do provide some additional support. You also need to select axle size, you don't need more than 31-spline. You also should get the rear end with C-clip eliminators. Much safer for high performance use.

Don't forget that you will also need a new driveshaft. This is best ordered after installing the rear end and measuring.

Your car is pretty much stock and you say you're only going to the track a couple times, why even spend $2k or more on a rear end. The stocker will be fine unless you drive on the street on MT ET Streets.

I will be getting a new engine soon as well as a new rear end...and a new driveshaft and a rebuilt tranny as well.

Well, without knowing what your new engine is like, the gear ratio cannot be selected properly. My recommendation for 3.73's was based on a stock type setup.
