Support engine while removing transmission?

I'm gonna be changing my clutch out pretty soon, and just needed to know if i need to support the engine in any way while the transmission is removed.

you don't "have" to but it's a good idea - use a 2X4 on a floor jack under the oil pan or a hoist on the engine

Yeah, you don't have to and a little tilt is actually good so you have room to pull the tranny out. It's really a personal preference.

I agree. I would support it. If you had long tubes the headers would actually sit on the k-member but sense you have shorties it would be pretty hard on the motor mounts just hanging there. Good luck on the clutch swap. Make sure you grab a buddy to help. That sucker is HEAVY when its sitting on your chest :S

I would support it. I didn't on mine at first, and it bent my motor mount brackets slightly. No serious permanent damage though.

like someone posted above let it tilt, but watch your oil psi sensor. With the tilt it is easier to get to bell housing bolts

Just REMOVE THE OIL SENSOR. The clearance helps, since you can tilt the engine further.

I was careful until I couldn't get the top bolts late at night, kinda forgot, and busted it anyway.
