Stupid clutch problems
Stupid clutch problems
I'm getting really good at taking this trans in and out. Its almost embarrassing. Had a brute force clutch kit (autozone), pilot bearing falls apart at 4k miles.
Order a Ram clutch kit, and a new rubber trans mount since i'm going to be down there. Car shakes like mad over 4000 rpm. So bad the pcm is pulling timing advance. Drop trans, take flywheel, dampener, pressure plate, and clutch to local balance guru. Guru grinds flywheel, and says flywheel was warped to all hell and was the problem.
Back in goes the t56, car still shakes like a sumbitch
. Maybe the poly engine mounts dont like the new rubber trans mount? Order a poly mount. Car still shakes like a clothes dryer full of bowling *****, however with much more passion.
Swapped Ram pressure plate with old brute force pressure plate. Vibes gone.
Are'nt these things supposed to come balanced?
Some things I have learned:
Unless you like a vigorous body massage when you drive, get new parts balanced.
Starting engine with drive shaft removed blast trans fluid out of resulting hole.
Trans jack makes job much easier.
Clutch alignment is critical. the tool should move in an out effortlessly before you tighten the PP bolts.
Seems to be getting harder to find quality parts no matter how much you pay for them.
Hopefully this save someone some time, (money) if they are having similar issues.
