strength of stock axle?
strength of stock axle?
if i have under 350 hp and i throw some drag radials on... will i bust up my rear end? even with the stock converter and 3.23 gear and the bfg g-force kdw tires i still have some bad traction problems. i just want to go go go and not spin all the way thru 1st.

Re: strength of stock axle?
Its not the axle you need to worry about. With my mostly stock Z I shaved a tooth on my ring, broke my yoke, and snapped the u-joints off my driveshaft. Personally i would not put DRs on a stock rear, but thats only bc i busted mine twice. I know what you mean tho....i could not launch at all bc i would spin all the way into third. I upgraded to a 9inch and plan on getting some DRs for next summer.
Re: strength of stock axle?
Some guys hide their 10 bolts behind their autos and make it, some dont. Ive only run 6 speed cars or high hp auto cars, so the 10 bolt had no chance anyway, but I would be careful with it. The ring gears and posi's both love to break, no $ into them will help. Is it something you want to just have some traction with for now, or are you looking at it as a permanent solution?
Re: strength of stock axle?
Since you have an A4, I wouldn't worry about running drag radials. I am making about 400 fhp, and have run DR's and ET streets at the strip and on the street with no damage to the rear.
