streettwin rattling noise

I have a used street twin that I got a while back. I put it in a couple of weeks ago. It works great. My only problem is that it started making a rattling noise. It started at first when I would push in the clutch. The through was slightly different that the stock slave cylinder. If I pushed it in all the way it would disengage and then start rattling. I figured that the slave would need to be adjusted a little. For the time being I left it alone. I just made sure not to push the clutch all the way to the floor. I put about 300 miles on it this way. The other night a friend came over and wanted to go for a ride. I took him for one and then let him drive. When we got back to the house the clutch was rattling all the time. Disengaged or not. It still grips great and doesn't slip. I tried adjusting the slave some the next morning. It didn't seem to help.
Has anyone had this problem?
Thanks for the info.
