street twin vs mcleod single disk

Since both these clutches use the lt4 pressure plate, would they both have the same pedal pressure? I realize release points may differ since one requires an adjustable master cylinder and one works with stock...

What it comes down to, I'm running low on funds to afford the street twin and am now torn between the mcleod single, spec stage 3, and ram powergrip (all relatively same price.)

The car is a 95 lt1 w/ cc305 cam, 52mm tb, hooker long tubes/mufflex 4" cat-back, cai and other non-huge hp mods..

the single disk should be plenty.i ran over 2 years on a stock lt4 clutch.i raced many many times and ran a 150 shot for 2 years wit no slippage.my mcloed clutch is much stronger then the stock lt4.i bought a stock clutch kit from autozone (lt4 clutch) and put a mcloed disk in it.its the same thing but cheaper and you have a lifetime warranty on the clutch kit.

After going to autozone.com I see they have a few different choices. The one w/ a lifetime warranty seems to be $200, but mentions nothing about being for an LT4. What years were the lt4 an option?

the lifetime warranty is a lt4 clutch. i dont think you can even get a lt1 clutch at the parts stores.valeo makes them there the same pressure plates that spec, mcloed, ram, ect. used just different paint and a bigger price.

So if all these clutches use the same pressure plate, does that mean they'd all require the same pedal pressure to release the disc? And same release point too? Does the street twin use the lt4 pressure plate as well?

Yup, pressure plate exerts a constant force, pressure applied to the clutch itself is modified by the amount of clutch surface there is, the less contact area with the same force exerted by the pressure plate means increased contact pressure...

(Edit): not sure about the street twin, know it uses two clutch plates instead of one.. no personal experience with it myself (yet)

That was a great link! I'll go to autozone and get the clutch kit ... just for the t/o bearing and pressure plate. I'm still slightly undecided on what disc to order though... but I'm leaning towards the McLeod single. The other choices were the spec stage 3 and the ram powergrip (both of which I don't see options to buy the disc seperately.)

Suggestions? I know this question is asked everday... and believe me I've searched. All I came up with was finding bad things about every disc, still leaving me not knowing which one to get lol... (McLeod not fitting on the splines right and ruining input shafts, centerforces and specs just "blowing up" and ram's .. well haven't really read anything bad about ram.. just haven't heard much.)

You might be able to just buy the disk directly from the manufacturer. Call them and ask.

I'd go RAM.

nice link to hbhracing. i'm going with his line of thinking.
one questions,
IF THE T/O BEARING IS DIFF WITH REGARDS TO WHICH KIT YOU BUY(SINCE ALL YOU NEED IS THE PPAND T/O) WHO HAS THE BETTER T/O BEARING????
I read that some fit better and others are less noise.
