Street Twin installed = Holy crap!! Got some ??

I just got my Mcleod Street Twin installed and HOLY ****...this thing got some grip!

I have a few questions. The clutch fully engages within about a inch of travel and by that I mean, when you hold the clutch to the floor board it is disengaged and when you lift your foot 1" it is fully engaged.

1. Is the above normal?

2. Can the engagement area be adjusted to be larger?

3. Since the clutch install it has been hard to get the shifter into gear, not a smooth shifter any more. Is this normal?

4. Am I being a just being a bitch and should just beat on the damn car?

Thanks in advance

It doesn't look normal. Did you get the adjustable mmaster cylinder? That might be causing the shifting problems.

A street twin and no 12 bolt I see? Might want to start saving pennies for the next upgrade. Their grabby, but it will loosen up a bit. I wasn't expecting that when I got mine off jackstands, then proceeded to let the clutch pedel and immediatly backed the car into the garage door jam crunching my quarter panel. So my street twin cost about $1500 instead of $1000.

Mine is the same way, from the point that the clutch just starts to grab, until it is fully engaged is probably about 1/2", not even 1 inch. But, I only have about 75 miles on my clutch, so hopefully it will loosen up some. The tranny does feel a little more notchy, but my car has been sitting for a couple years so it is hard to tell if it is the time or the clutch.

It is harder to put in gear that's just a fact w/ these clutches. Your engagement is too low IMO. Mine is 1/2 from the bottom of the floor like stock and was higher but I had to adjust it. Yeah they do grap and are hard to slip the 1st 500 miles but once it's broke in it's like butter and you forget it's there and have to remind yourself and the car once in a while and dump it just to see if it's holding. LOL Pedal is more stiff but you get use to that too.

Buy the adj master if you haven't done so.

If you drive the Street Twin normally and don't launch... but do race it every now and then. What are the odds of breaking something along the drivetrain?

Your stock 10 bolt could go at any time. My advice would be to feather the clutch and not dump it...if this is possible with a street twin, ive never drove a car with one.

As long as you don't dump it on a sticky tire your 10 bolt should last. I haven't had a problem w/ mine in over 4 yrs of owning the clutch w/ 440rwhp. Just depends on the driving habits of the owner.

I dump on it every now and then just to make sure it's not slipping.

Is it bad to run a twin disc without the adj m/c?

Not bad to run one w/o but i would recommend it to get teh proper engage/disengage point's.. There will bea point where you won't be able to disengage it.. Which also could be the cause of most of your putting it into gear issues..

After about 600 miles of break-in the clutch pedal feels just like the stocker. I also adjusted the master a little so it would pickup about 1-1/2" off the floor, now it's damn near perfect. Just tried some full throttle runs and clutch dumps this week..... this clutch grips like a ****!!

Couldn't be more happy with my choice in a clutch!

Well hopefully you have some $$ saved up for a 12 bolt.. Twin disk will eat drivetrain part's like candy.. Enjoy them spline's on the stock driveshaft, you'll surely twist them before you know it.. then your driveshaft will go, and soon after if your not careful it'll take out your output shaft as well.. lol.. But it don't slip...

You're talking about if you launch right?

He should be ok once he gets to the roll right?
