And I know the first thing you are thinking. Trans mount or tq arm mount. but both are brand new energy suspension pieces. There's no real evidence under the car of anything hitting, other then some marks from the tq arm, but I think those were made when I had the engine and trans out of the car.

I had thought maybe it was the converter, but I swapped that sunday night and the noise is still there. Also, the U joints in the drive shaft are new and it was recently spin balanced.

When you first hit the gas it sounds like something rubbing. almost as if the spinning diveshaft was hitting the tunnel somewhere. Also, when you get to lower speeds if the converter hasn't unlocked the car will lug a little and as it does that it sounds like somehting tapping the bottom of the car.

Oh, and I should mention, we dropped the pan on the trans and did a filter and fluid change. There was NO metal in it whatsoever and the fluid was just slightly off red. Looked great suprisingly. I was all ready to rebuild it, but the transmisison guy said there was no need for it.

I can't find anything at all to be causing this... any ideas?

Check your header collectors and y-pipe. They could be touching the body under power and causing a buzzing that could sound like a rubbing.

I checked it out last night, the primaries on the driver's side seem to be hitting the K member. Might be a collector hitting under there too. Wonder if it's time for motormounts...

I'm doing poly motor mounts this winter for just that reason.

My car is an LT1 but my Y pipe will hit the trans crossmember and make the noise that you describe and i have poly everywhere. It may sound like a dumb ? but i had it happen to me ......is your bolt to the trans mount tight??? Mine worked loose once and did everything that yours is doing now. Steven

well, I just put a new mount on there and tightened it up tight, I made sure of that. It did it before the new mount too. In fact none of this started until the new cam went in. I thought it might be the trans, the converter, even the mounts, but all of that has been taken care of and eliminated. I did see the primaries touching the K member on the driver's side, but I also hear soujnds coming from under the passenger side floor board. Like maybe the collector is hitting. BTW, they are LT headers with ORY.

YES. I had to dent my Y pipe looks like i need to do it more than what it is now. Mine hits on the drivers side from the motors torque rotation. I am also thinking of adding a stabilizer bar to help hold the motor still so she wont move so much. Steven
