Strange 12 bolt differences.

So I bought a Strange 12 bolt to replace my 10 bolt and after taking out the 10 bolt yesterday and prepping the 12 bolt for powder coat, I noticed that the 12 bolt doesn't have the gear looking things on the outer axle by the calipers, it also doesn't have the magnetic sensor looking things or the rubber hockey puck looking thing. I'm assuming these things have something to do with the ABS or the ASR which my car has currently has with the 10 bolt. It also has some kind of sensor on the top of the differential. It has 2 wires coming out of is so I'm assuming its a temp sensor but the wires are cut. Do I need to transfer any of these things over to the 12 bolt?

My 10 bolt has 3.23 gears and the 12 bolt has 3.73 gears. Will I need to have anything "tuned" out for the ABS or ASR?

If your actual 10 bolt has reluctors and sensors on both ends of the axle shafts you have four channel ABS. The STRANGE 12 bolt that you describe with one sensor in the middle has been set up for 3 channel ABS.
I dont think that you can transfer the rings and sensors to the 12 Bolt.
the ABS system is run by a different module and as far as I know you cannot tune it out.

What you describe as the "rubber hockey puck looking thing" sounds like the vibration damper for the rear brakes. It bolted to the parking brake cable bracket, and will transfer to your 12-bolt when you move the brakes over.

Are you saying your 10-bolt has BOTH the 4-channel axle reluctor rings required for ABS+ASR, AND the pumpkin mounted 3-channel ABS (only) sensor, with the wires cut? Odd.

And what did you specify when you bought your Strange 12-bolt - ABS, ABS+ASR or "nothing". Because if you don't pay extra for 3-channel or 4-channel with the Strange, you don't get them. If you don't have any sensors, you will not have ABS or ASR, and the ABS INOP light will be on all the time. Remove the bulb. The ABS is handled by the EBTCM module. But with ASR, their is an interface to the PCM. Check with your programmer to see if anything needs to be changed when ASR is deleted.

Its a used 12 bolt so I didn't order it exactly to my specifications and its got rotors and calipers that came with it although I removed everything for powder coat. So do I need to transfer over the damper, what does it do?

The 12 bolt has the sensor on top of the pumpkin with the wires cut. You can see on the stock 10 bolt where that sensor would go, but its just cast iron, no hole for the sensor.

So your saying with the 12 bolt it has ABS, but the sensor wires are cut and it doesn't have ASR. I can do without the ASR, but the ABS might be nice to have. What would it take to get the ABS working.

Also my tuner uses tunercat and LT1edit to tune my car.

If the Strange has the sensor on the center section, it was for a 3-channel ABS-only car. To work with ABS+TCS (or ASR) it has to have the reluctors on the ends of the axles and the sensors. Don't worry, the Strange ABS sensor doesn't work very well any way.

The rubber brake vibration dampers are just that. I removed them for weight reduction, and never noticed any unusual vibration. But my car now gets driven on 1/4-mile at a time, and not very often at that, any more.
