Hi guys,

Simple question, I know it sounds lame, but anyway:
How in hell do I check the fluid level in my Strange 12 bolt? I have the stock chrome cover, just a fill hole on the top. The instructions say to put 2.5 quarts of fluid and 1 bottle GM LSD additive, but how do I check if there's enough fluid? I've run a wire down the hole, sure there's some fluid, but I think it's a bit low...
I know that is should be filled up as they are delivered, but I'd like to make it dead sure that I have enough fluid before start breaking it in, I don't want to wait another 9 months for a rear... (overseas)

 

Look for a plug in the Pass side, in front of the axle tube. It should be to the bottom of the fill hole on level ground.

 

God, I looked at it again but couldn't find it...
Do you have a picture of the fill plug by any chance?

I just went out to double check......

It is approx 3" in front of the pass side axle tube. It screws directly in the side of the center section. Not sure if they all had them, but to the best of my knowledge they do.

 

When you find this plug, add fluid until it starts to come back out of the hole. essentially the fluid level should be right up to the hole.
