Stock 2.73 Gears

I was just wondering what the stock rear came with Posi or what? and what is the dif between Posi and limited slip. cus i thought on Limited slip if u jack up the rear and spin one of the tire the other would go opposite. and for posi when you spun one the other would go the same. Well mine goes the same. Also i have a set of 3.23 from another camaro would these fit and would it be worth it? thanks for all the help.

Re: Stock 2.73 Gears

the gears wont fit in a 2-series carrier if they are from a stock camaro with a 3-series, although you can get aftermarket gears that have a spacer that will allow them to fit in a 2-series carrier. i have 3.73 richmond gears in a 2 series carrier. like em pretty well too, little noisy but nothin i cant live with. also if i remmeber right posi and limited slip are the same thing, just different names for the same thing if anything is different one is just a better version of the same thing. im sure someone else can give you more details, but i hope thatll help you at least a little
(plz chime in if im wrong, anyone )

Nothing comes standard from GM, if you wanted a Limited Slip RPO G80, it was a extra cost option. Also Posi was a GM tradename for a Limited Slip in the 60's and is name no longer used by GM. It is one and the same thing, just a nickname ( Posi) that refuses to go away.

Depends what year his car is... he could make it easier for us by including a "signature" with the basic info about his car

Assuming his screen name indicates he has a 1994 Z28, posi was "standard" on his car when it left the factory. All V8 4th Gen F-Bodies had posi as standard equipment.

Check your RPO codes G80=Limited Slip not Posi.
