Steering weird with locker engaged?

When im on the highway or street and I give it throttle so the detroit locker engages, my car wants to go right slightly and I have to constantly counter steer it. Any ideas on what might cause this?

It's normal with a locked rear end and is a form of "torque steer". Lockers cause torque steer negative to the direction the vehicle is trying to turn. In other words, they try to steer the vehicle straight in a turn (understeer). When you are trying to accelerate in a straight line, the torque twists the rear axle around the vertical axis and tries to push the car to the right.

Check to make shure the rear tires have the same pressure. It sounds like you may have a low tire if it pulls to the same side every time the locker engauges.

You may also want to have your rear axle alignment checked.

I thought the Detroit Locker was always engaged going in a straight line, and disengaged when making a turn.
