I posted this in the trans forum, but it is kind of slow over there right now, and I really need any help I can get ASAP. I have a 4l60e, replacement filter, gasket, and new steel o-ring, but I cant get the old o-ring off, and all of the rubber on the old one has been hacked off of it. Besides some kind of speciality tool for this, is there any other easy way of getting this oring out of there? This is a huge pain in the ***. If I do need a tool for this, where can I get it? Thanks in advance.

 

you try prying it out with a screwdriver?

 

A seal puller will get it out, or a small 2 jaw outer brg race slide hammer. It must be really bad to want to change it. Be careful going back in, do not beat on filter body. camaro409
