I wouldn't be able to tell you much of what size stall to get, but I always thought the stall needed to be just a little lower than where your peak torque is. There's other factors that play in to it also, but I won't be able to help much there.

Your a stick now,I take it your putting in an auto?

With that camshaft,I would say a 3,000-3,200 stall. With those gears you'll hardly notice it driving through town.

What kind of rpm does it pull? How tall are your rear tires? I'd lean more towards a 3600 if it wouldn't make you run out of rpm crossing the line. That's if you take it to the track? WELL, DO YOU?

How would ANY converter make a car run out of rpm crossing the line?

I would go 3600-4000 if it was my car.

I think he means shifting to second gear too early.

I take it your serious. So why don't you think about the variables involved when considering the optimum rpm when crossing the finish line.

OK.....
Trap speed and gears, (gears including trans, tires, and rear end) hmmm thats it, am I missing something?
The only way a converter could effect your finish line rpm is if it increased your trap speed. Unless of coarse you have a 6000 stall.

Please explain how a 4000 stall effects rpm on the top end.

The difference in trap rpm with a 3000, 3500, 4000 will be zero if the efficiency <sp> is the same. What stall rpm is has nothing to do with trap rpm.
