stall or rebuild?
stall or rebuild?
last night coming home from an hour drive. about 5minutes from my house i hit a red light. goes green, i just go to 55 under normal acceleration. and each time it shifted it felt really sluggish, just not normal at all. it would rev a lil more then needed.
so i take the car out today for about a 30 minute drive to the mall and drop my gf off, didnt notice anything, then on the way home it started doing it again. know i am kinda frustrated and i know my tranny is goin. so i take it easy. so i head back up there to get her and when i am almost there, under half throttle it was kinda revving and not going as fast as it should. so i pick her up and head home. i wanted to see if it was having the same sypmtoms as last time, so wheni was less then half mile away i floor it form the bottom of 2nd and go to it hits 3rd and when it hit it bounced off the rev limiter, and i let off instantly and cruised home.
? is do u think i could just buy new t.c. or do i need another rebuild?

Re: stall or rebuild?
id say another rebuild with TC!!
get a good rebuild...
i paid 1400$ for my 1st rebuild for performance parts and got scammed and they didnt do n e thing to my tranny but tighten up the lines to make it feel like it had a shift kit and other things!!
3 weeks later went out, took it back to them and had them rebuild it again...
4 weeks later, went out took it back to them and they said they would not rebuild it...
Even had a 1 year warranty...
so i said *** them and went to a performance shop specially for F-bodys and got a bad *** rebuild for 1500$ with bullet internal parts, real shift kit, and basically could hold up to 700+ hp!!
been 5 months since then, and not even one problem, but maybe a small drip of tranny fluid here and there!!!

Re: stall or rebuild?
Yours is for sure on its way out. Mine needs rebuilt as week speek. Mine did what yours is doing at first and then eventually it wouldnt shift out of first witout having to let off the gas and then I lost over-drive.
Re: stall or rebuild?
Mine did something similar, then it also strarted leaking fluid right after I got into an accident, so at that point I said F' it, rebuild time! I took mine to Frank @ CPT and he hooked me up!
Re: stall or rebuild?
You have the same exact problem I have. For about the last year, I would often hit the rev-limiter during shifts and it has only gotten worse over time. Tonight was the last time (promising myself) that I'll be going WOT. I was on 417 for a little race and it wouldn't shift from 2-3 unless I got off the gas.
Also, sometimes while going around a turn and hitting the gas the car will rev to about 3k and drop back to 2k before accelerating. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to wait probably till the summer till I get a rebuilt and just hope my car can still drive in every day conditions. (Dare I say it, I can't drive the car like it's ment to be driven
)
Luckily we have an awesome 4l60e tranny builder right here in downtown orlando-Kenny Wells. Do a search to find his number. He's highly recommended and I've seen many of his built trannys put to the test w/ some drivers who are exactly easy on the pedal.

Re: stall or rebuild?
guess who i took my tranny too? kenn wells. lol
anyway after i had problems over the weekend i parked it. then i called him up on monday, adn agreed to bring it in on tuesday mornin. anyway i drove from daytona to his shop( 97 miles one way). didnt have one problem the whole way. i never floored it, only went half throttle a few times and it seemed not to slip at all. i get there and he gets his tranny builder to get teh computer and take it for a drive. we drove 15 minutes a few WOT runs and then normal............ . not one problem, but it started to feel like it was slipping a lil more then normal. and he noticed that as well. well he said my TC is on its way out. to drive it normal till i can get new TC. so that is the plan.
and yes i recommend anyone to ken, straight up guy!
