SPEC4 pressure plate with a McCLeod single disk??

My SPEC4 started slipping alittle last friday at the track(after 50,000 miles). Im kindof throwing around the idea of putting a McCleod single disk in there. What do I do if there are excessive hot spots on the the pressure plate? I dont really have $500-$1300 for a whole new clutch right now. Can the pressure plate be machined like a flywheel? Thanks for the help.
