its a pain in the neck and a total different world from the stock one. It doesn't ease into gear it kind of just slams and catches. If you let the clutch out slow and give it a little gas it will chatter and almost die. So to me the drivability of this thing isnt that great, but once you get used to it, its not horrible. If I could do it again I would probably try the stage 2+ because traffic is a nightmare. Most of the time to get into first i let it out a little fast to avoid chatter and chirp the tires.

I have a Spec 3 with an Alum flywheel. App... 97ss 383 D1. They tend to chatter a bit when new. Yhey can chatter alot in reverse gear. After some run in, they do not chatter (@ least mine does not). I don't slip it much. Let it out agressive. This is the second Spec clutch I have used. I wore out a previous Spec disc. Replaced it with a Spec 3.

Well i put down the numbers in the sig, planning on finishing up with a few more odds and ends, hopefully with 335-340rwhp. Than im going to hit it with a 150 so i am going to need something quite strong.

You guys think i could get away with the Mcloed single disk? Im not Street twin territory yet but their weaker clutch has caught my eye

any thoughts on it?

do it once, do it right, get a street twin. no other clutch comes close for a LT1 car.

if you launch on any clutch that twig will break. I'd rather have an excellent clutch thet doesn't chatter, shimmy, break (specs are junk btw) then a band aid. JMHO trust me I have been through some clutches., power breaks everything hahah

I have the spec stage 3 currently. It is a very grabby, but once you understand how to operate the clutch pedal chatter will rarely occur. The spec 3 does not like to be slipped (it is afterall a six puck clutch). I have found good results by slipping the clutch from ~1500 rpm and quickly releasing the clutch pedal. Too low of an rpm and the car lunges forward and too high the clutch will slip too much and begin to chatter. I also have the SPEC steel flywheel. I have not heard good results from people using a Cast Iron flywheel with an abrasive clutch.

I loved my spec stg 3. It was a little bit of a pain when i first got it but got used to it and started to like it. It is a stage 3 clutch it is designed to grab and be raced so of course it isnt the best for stop and go traffic. When i got the clutch i knew what i was in for so that is why i bought it. I wanted a clutch that grab and didnt slip.
