Spec stage 2 installed!

After reading much about spec's chatter, I was very pleased when I fired up the beast, dropped it into gear, let out the clutch pedal and no chatter. I've put about 30 miles on it around town now and it only chattered a small amount on the second drive. Other than that, it drives not much different from stock as far as I can tell. I also added poly motor mounts and trans mount. A small amount of vibration over stock but not too bad.

That's encouraging. I bought a SPEC stage 3 from someone on the board and I'm going to install it this summer, although there are quite a few people on here that are not satisfied with their spec product.

Besides the motor and trans mounts did you change anything else along with the clutch? And did you buy an aftermarket flywheel or have your stock one resurfaced?

I actually dropped the motor and trans out the bottom and added cam, 1.6RRs, headers and 3/4 steel shift fork. Also a spec aluminum fly wheel.

My Stage II w/ new stock flywheel works great and doesn't chatter at all. So far it has been awesome.

I have to keep the rpms up guite a bit to get into first and it not chatter.
It performs well out of first though
I have only put 80 miles on it hough so we will see.
Does anyone elses pedal shake after thier clutch install cause mine does?

All work was done by little ol' me. The only thing I can think of is make sure all surfaces are spotless when you install it. I cleaned quit a bit of crap off straight out of the package. I noticed that once I had the clutch bolts snugged up, when I would move the guide tool in and out, it wasn't completely free, it had a little pressure on it to one side. I loosened the bolts and readjusted so that it was completely free. Don't know how important that is. You probably won't drop the front cradle but it took me 5 hours by myself and about that long to put it back in. Could do it in much less now. All the work inbetween was mostly waiting on other people to do their work, mostly the tranny shop.

Re: Spec stage 2 installed!

From my understanding the stage II has ALOT less chatter than the stage III. If i had it to do over i would go stage II. My stage III was TERRIBLE at first, better now thats its well broken in, but still rough on hills and whatnot.
