Spec 4 --to much for the streets???
Looking into the spec 4 clutch. Spec states that this clutch is to aggressive for street driving. I really dont drive my car everyday. Mostly on the weekends. Just wondering if the clutch would be to aggressive for the streets. I want to avoid spec 3 because of the springs and problems with them. So I wanted to hear information from members who has had them or running them in there cars right now. Is the spec 5 more aggressive?? Also How long do the spec 4 /5 clutches last for with normal driving and little abuse here and there?

I have a SPEC 4. It probably still isnt fully broken in yet, but it isnt that bad IMO... reverse sucks, and taking off from a dead stop takes some getting used to (there is some chattering).. but once moving it is like driving a stocker...

I have a Spec 4. I love it. My friend drove my car and he says its very streetable. I drive my car pretty much everyday. It just takes some getting used to. But I wouldnt consider it non streetable.
Mine just broke yesterday though. I am in the process of pulling my tranny out to take a look at it and see what exactly broke. I am having a hell of a time getting that damn spline shaft to come out.

I never really had a aftermarket clutch before - always the stock clutch. Did you guys notice a huge difference in the way the clutch grabs. Also I can re-use my stock flywheel with the spec 4 correct?? Just need it resurfaced. I'm thinking either a spec 4 or spec 5.

Yes, and Yes. I resurfaced my stock flywheel and it has worked great until yesterday. I cant get the tranny input spline to remove from the clutch or I would let you know if it was the clutch that went bad or if it was something tranny related.
But I have been VERY pleased with the clutch. It grabs really well, but since its hydraulic it doesnt make it hard to depress. I just have to get my REV's up to about 1300RPM in order to take off from a stop or else it will stall. I also have a BIG cam, GM847. So that may be why I have to rev it up so much. But really, 1300rpm seems not all that much to me. I have the kevlar disc and it broke in excellent, there is zero chatter. If this clutch is bad I would actually look into going with a Spec 5.
