Something you should know about SPEC

I bought a SPEC stage II clutch new in a box from spec, anyways I had it professionally installed by a shop, and the next day about 80 miles through the breakin period the clutch started making terrible noises so I drove it to the shop me and a buddy took everything and found out the throwout bearing was defective, causing the clutch to hardly engage or disengage, just want to let everyone know the quality of spec clutches as I heard other people had troubles with various other things, I spent $ 400 thinking this was a quality clutch and now I have to pay $300 more to have another clutch installed or crawl under the car myself because of specs quality clucth assemblys.

I know other people had sucess with spec but thought Id let you guys know my expirience

Vic

I wouldn't be counting out installation error.

Did you contact Spec and give them an opportunity to make it good,or tell you what might have happened? That would be the first thing to do before trashing them. They are a good size co and I am sure the last thing they want is unhappy customer's.

Spec has the best customer Service I"ve ever known...

If you contact them they should help you out. If you show them the reciept or so they'll probably replace it for you. SPEC = Good People...

Do they come with a throwout bearing from spec?

It's been too long since I bought one from them becuase it's worked great for the past three years. It's a stage 3 and has held up to many nitrous runs.

It sounds more like it could be install error.

Anyway I got no complaints.

SPEC = Great people... Great clutches ...

I've cut numerous 1.5 60's w/ mine... And the car's no lightweight, tipping the scales at just over 3700#'s.

Got a friend w/ a stage 3 SPEC.. Best 60' on his so far is high 1.4's.

Both are driving fine w/ no hints of slippage.

my spec III is holding up great, i would recomend it to anyone, and if you say this clutch is not driveable on the street you need to sell your car and buy a caddy

I've got no complaints about my Spec stage 3. 30k miles behind a supercharged motor with no hints of slippage.

About Spec customer service...

once a while back I had a problem with my stage 2... called them up told them the issue... guy says send it in no problem... I send it in... 4 days later I get no response from spec... I call the guy up.. I"m like where's my clutch .... guys like holdon let me look around in the shop for it... "hey it's not here can't find it he says" ... Can't find it....??? Hungh??? So after hanging up and crying under my pillow my door bell rings... I open it up and it's the UPS guy. Special Delivery... "hey what is this" it was my clutch from SPEC... the guys got it in and out so fast they never even knew they had it.
