Soft Loc PP and Iron disk clutch is alive and kicking
Soft Loc PP and Iron disk clutch is alive and kicking
Finally got my motor reassembled and put stuff back together with the new clutch set up. Some street time yielded the following observations. The Iron disk is pretty much on or off and engages at the top of the pedal. It does not chatter. It just lets out a little chirp when it engages. Pedal feels real good and clutch did not slip in any gear at WOT. I have the PP preload set up at 11 turns which is pretty high but not maxed. No counterweights on the fingers just yet. Tomorrow will be the first real test at the track. I'm going to launch at 4500 (pretty much what I always did with the Street Twin). In theory I should get a softer hit with some clutch slip. This will help save my 12 bolt. Then, when that bad boy heats up she'll grab like a *****. I also now have peace of mind knowing I have an SFI bell housing!

I have a ton of money in this setup and frankly I never really added it up. But, it's probably aproaching $3500 with the new T56, new SFI bell housing, and Mcleod adjustable PP, Flywheel, Iron disk, and hydraulic TOB. This project is certainly not for most people. I mostly went this route to get the SFI blowproof bellhousing. I do a ton of bracket racing and I was just very nervous dumping that clutch at 5 grand week in and week out. I really like my feet and wanted to keep both of them. I do have another post somewhere that spells out the details of the conversion.
