so I rebuilt the stock T-56 shifter.....
After months of dealing with missed 3rd gear shifts, and a stock shifter that was sloppier than a 60 year old French hooker, I got sick of it. I had inquired here a few months back about rebuilding the stocker, and everyone "just replace it, nothing you can do with the stocker". Well, I don't have the extra cash for a B&M, or Pro 5.0, and didn't want a $25 ebay special as all of them I saw didn't have removable sticks (I have some ideas for custom bends I want to play with still).
Figured if I have to replace the stocker anyways, I have nothing to lose by tearing into it and seeing what I can do. I found that my sloppy-ness is due to the aluminum rivets that hold the tower to base plate got loose, allowing the tower to wiggle around. In short, I drilled the rivets, replaced with bolts, and now it's like a brand new shifter again. It's a little more involved than that, and I made a quick and dirty write up here - http://silenceisdefeat.org/~urbex/shifterrebuild.html (keep in mind that I quite literally just slapped that together, and I have zero HTML skills, obviously,
) When I get more ambition, I figured I'd make it "nicer".
