Okay. I need to pull my axle shaft out to replace an extended length wheel stud. I went to unscrew the bolt that holds in the cross pin and it is extremely rounded. Well I try to start a pilot hole to start an easy out and nothing. Im burning up bits and breaking bits and it won't make a dent in this friggin thing. I finally take a small dremel bit and make a deep pilot and start threading the easy out in there and it will not grab. I heated it way up because i'm sure there's thread lock but nothing is budging this thing. Am I going to need to remove and replace the whole guts? And if so,, how do I do that with that bolt permanently in there? Need advice quick guys. Sorry 4 the long post.

Were you heating on the correct side? The threads are at the head of the bolt, not the other end.

I have only had one issue with this in the past. I ended up having to drill it out. Didnt have any issues drilling it though.

Good luck.

Yeah I heated at the head of the bolt. I'm gonna try to drill it tonight. I've got a ton of metal shavings in the housing now. When I finally do fix this, what's the best way to clean all that up?
