Re: SLP vs HURST

The "SLP" Hurst is an "almost" clone of the Hurst Competition Plus shifter. I suspect the "throw" is the same. But the SLP version seems to have a lighter weight cover plate and uses the stock shift lever. That means, unless you buy a "short stick" from someone, you are locked into using the long stock lever with the sloppy rubber bushing in the end that bolts to the shifter. The "real" Hurst comes with a shorter lever that bolts directly to the shifter with no rubber bushing.

Neither the SLP or the Hurst Comp+ includes adjustable "stop" bolts. You would have to get the Hurst Billet Plus to get those, or a Pro 5.0, etc.

I bought a spare T56 and it had the SLP/Hurst on it, and it was different than my own Hurst Comp+, as noted above. I've since sold both of them.

Re: SLP vs HURST

i've had the "hurst" shifter from an SS for almost 6yrs now...replaced the shift stick on it after about a year...the shifter is a huge improvement over stock!!!

you'll feel the differance even with the stock stick, but once you throw a $25 short stick (ebay) on it...wow...what a difference.

my shifts (from 1st to 2nd) went from about 8" to around 3.5" worth of shift throw.

for the price...they are a great upgrade.

6yrs ago i paid $50 shipped and then $55 for my lou's short stick...and honestly..one of the best mods to the car. you feel it EVERY time you drive

Re: SLP vs HURST

I bought my car with a Hurst short throw, with short stick in it, and I love it.
Makes slammin the 2nd to 3rd shif a lot easier with a shorter pattern and a spring action that is the perfect strength. I've heard the same with the Pro 5.0 shifter. I don't know anybody that has the SLP one so I can't compare, but I do know the Hurst and Pro 5.0 are really nice.
