SLP Clutch and Flywheel - Comments Welcomed

I have just ordered the SLP clutch assembly for my 94Z, M6. Here are the parts and cost:

$279.95 - Pressure plate and throwout bearing

$379.95 - Lightweight steel billet flywheel (7 lbs ligher than stock)

$99.95 - Disc

$759.85 - Total

Has anyone used this clutch system? If so, what are the plus and minuses?

Cost: Is the cost right for what I am getting? SLP rep says clutch is good for a 380hp (at the flywheel) car. I am dynoed at 361 at the flywheel.

Appreciate your comments.

I personally liked the CenterForce Dual Friction...although the set-up cost me $650 it was worth it to me. I kept eating up clutches like it was cool, have had this one for 2 years with no slip or anything. With all my power it still grabs and takes off

Let me know what you think of yours when you get a chance...I love to hear from others and thier setups.

geez....all that money for not even 400hp worth of holding potential?

:blah:

i paid

$400 shipped (great group purchase price) for PP and disk
$300 shipped for fidanza alum flywheel from ebay company, 1/2 weight of stock
$130 for new hydrolics (since it's an LS1)

this included all the bearings and parts needed...
SPEC 4 clutch...good for 700-800hp...

for the same cost as yours

A stock clutch assembly cost more. I have purchased other SLP products and was very satisfied with their performance. I do not race the car so I thought a good solid setup for the street would be the way to go. I'll find out next week when I have the clutch installed. At my age, it is only money.

Thanks!

I have the SLP Clutch in my Z. I paid 330$ on ebay from new-era performance for PP/Throwout bearing, and Disc. I just didnt buy the flywheel. 30,000 miles on it so far, 7 track passes, and alot of burnouts lol. Still holding to this day as my daily driver. basically stock motor with mods in sig.
The Slp Clutch is basically a Stock disc, with LT4 PP/Throwout bearing

I got no complaints to this day bout it, but there are alot of better clutches out there that have better holding power

i have this clutch in my car with about 20,000 miles on it and it is going to need to be replaced this winter, it has some passes on it and a lot of street racing, i dont think that this was enough clutch for my car in the first place, i always have to make sure i am always off the gas completely when i shift or it will slip more than i like with 295 street tires on the back, with 245s it chirps fourth gear. The driveability is like stock and it has put up with a lot of abuse including some second and third gear burnout competitons. No complaints from it though, but i am putting in a SPEC stage 4 this winter

I have that setup. Pretty similar to stock in terms of pedal stiffness and clutch feel. You will have to pay a bit more attention to not bogging when taking off but you adjust very quickly. I think its a good package for a lightly modded car. Add an aluminum driveshaft and you will really notice an improvement in acceleration.

i wouldn't waste the money on the flywheel. If you are gonna drop $800 for clutch and flywheel setup, you might as well spend a little more $$$ and get a Mcleod.
