So the tranny in my 84 z28 takes a long time to get from 1st to 2nd. There is just a big gap between the shifting? Will a shift kit clean this up?

 

A shift kit probably won't help. The 2-4 band is probably starting to go... May be time for a rebuild. If you do decide to try a shift kit, look for a Superior (Shift Technologies) 700HP kit. It's the ONLY kit I recommend for a 700.
