slight pop when releasing clutch

the other day i was pushing the clutch in and releasing it to see if a noise would quit when it was depressed. i noticed a slight "pop" noise when i released the clutch. it did it everytime. i drove the car to a friends house (@12 miles) and tried it again when i got there, but it did not do it. it was about 45 degrees when i started it up and was probably in the low to mid 30's overnight. is there something i need to check or service? it shifted fine. btw, the noise was not associated with the engine or tranny. something was loose and was tightend. thanks
