Slave Cylinder Broke??/

Ok guys I was driving in the parking lot and I went to shift into 2nd and the clutch hit the floor..no bank or clunk just hit the floor and will not go into to gear. Well i just pulled the slave cylinder off the tranny and it was leaking every where. When i got it off a small plastic cylinder no loner than a half inch fell into the pan??? What is that?? Do i need to just replace the slave??

thanks

just replace the slave. the small plastic 'thing' is a cap that cushions the slave piston when it engages the fork. when you put the new slave on do not cut the straps that are attached to the new plastic cap. it's designed to breakaway when you engage the clutch. i recommend a mityvac or similar vacuum pump to bleed the hydraulics as well. takes all of 5 mins to bleed.
