Should I try to change a transmission myself?

Been considering doing the labor myself. I could probably get three days in a row off from work and I figure three days is enough to do a transmission swap. Is their any thing I need to look out for when doing the swap (4L60E and never did major transmission work)?

If you have access to a lift and a transmission jack, its a piece of cake. If you are doing in the yard on ramps, its gonna be a PITA.

What he said. It is possible on jack stands, and with hydraulic jacks, but is harder.

No major suprizes. Stuff comes undone, comes apart, slides out. No flying pieces when i took mine off. A very straight forward, although, time consuming job. Took me 5.5 hours to take off, and reconnect mine. I did not fully take mine out from under the car, though.

Takes me about 3 hours to do a tranny swap on my back.. no big deal.

First time ever? Should be done in a day or so.
