Shop Scamming Me?

Had my A4 4l60e rebuilt a few days short of a year ago. Anyhow warrenty is 12k or 1 year, anyhow its no where near 12k and the year is almost up. In second I think it is, 60mph if i hit it, it will go to 7k and wont shift sometimes and Madz28 set it to shift at 6400 and sometimes it hits it and shifts good and many times it misses you have to let off so it grabs. Ok so i go to the shop the other day thursday to be exact, and he drives it and comes back and says yea i see what your saying. I told him it was rebuilt, and he asked by who i said right here your shop. Then he goes on to say well the exaust is too free flowing, so i said ill buy a new exhaust, then he proceeds to tell me the pcm is not telling the transmission to shift from 2nd to 3rd. So i said ill get it reprogramed again. Basicly i feel they dont want to own up to their warrenty. I said ill do all that and then will is shift, he said well theres no guarantee that , that will solve the problem. I said are you saying that its not the transmission, he said well no im not saying that its just unlikely. He tells me to get online and ask around for advise lol I was thinking WTFFFFFF. Basicly I feel im getting F'd over, im going to call them monday and tell them i want my warrenty honored or im going to the BBB on them. What do you guys think, and whats bad is I know its not MadZ's tune because sometimes it hits and sometimes it doesnt. I think their trying to push their problems off on other things/places instead of whats really wrong. and i told the guy before i had it rebuilt it was doing the exact same thing in the same gear and then it went from what was problems shifting at WOT in 60 to first gear. Sorry its so long, im just mad, thanks for looking.

I got mine rebuilt in Spet 04, 18,000/12month warrenty. Well...the very day I got the car back, the overrun clutch didn't work. So I took it back, and he said driving in anything other than overdrive voides the warrenty...so I quit fighting that battle. Over the next 6 months.....4th started slipping, then third, then second....next thing you know, I'm driving home in reverse. 10,000 and 8 months later, would not honor the warrenty.

This was Metro Transmission in Waterloo, Iowa. Also....was cut a "deal" at $1200 for the rebuild since he's "was" a family friend. His name is Roger.

Man that is a bunch of bull fu**ing sh**. If they have a warranty on their products (hopefully you still have the reciept if it has the small words at the bottom) and dont honor it i would threaten to have it fixed somewhere else and take their asses to small claims court. Or throw bricks through their windows till it adds up to $1200.

I had my reverse gear rebuilt along with a stock clutch in my 94 3.4L camaro. It was like $1250 but when it was in their parking lot some dic* sat on the hood (you could see the denim pants and back pockets in the dirt) and dented it but you could only see it at an angle. Took it to the most expensive bodyshop in town and got a quote of $1575. I got a nice size check for that.

They are trying to screw you, just like every other shop out there. The PCM doesn't "not tell the transmission to shift". If that was the case you wouldn't be driving anywhere. Second, a free flowing exhaust has nothing to do with the transmission at all. The exhaust has to do with the exhaust and back pressure on the engine, in no way does that effect the shifting of the transmission.

A free flowing exhaust sounds like a lame excuse. Definitely doesn't sound like a shop that stands behind their work. I don't know if you have any legal recourse you can pursue, but it may be something to look into.

Well since you are online and asking for advice as per what the guy at the transmission shop said, here is my advice:

He is screwing you over. He needs to fix the tranmission or take him to court.
