There's a really cheap way to do it. Unplug the wire from the trans and put an resistor in it. Search the net you should be able to find a write up for it. 20 cents for a resistor and some electrical tape. Did this to the wife's SS back in 98 and it's still working.

because i hate (the skip shift). it like misses with your head when it randomly kicks on. i dont know about everyone but when i am exiting a turn i am not giving much gas and i am trying to put it in 2nd and it just slows ya down having to wait for the gears to open up. thats like from a red light turn or stop sign you know? thanks i really want to get rid of it.

Shifting problems?
Check your fluid level and color. If it's dark/black, change it by sucking it out of the cylinder with a bulb syringe and adding more. Drive it around a couple blocks and change it again.

Also it is hard somtimes to get it into reverse feels like it is stuck. is it bad shifting the shifter in the gears hard? it seems like it takes good effort to shift. is that common? so a short shifter would make it harder to shift because it is less leverage?

A T-56 should shift very easily. If it's getting hard to shift or doing funny things, either your fluid in the master cylinder needs to be changed (which I described above), or you could be having clutch issues (time for an LS2 flywheel and LS7 clutch)

the fluid huh? well i hope it doesnt need any clutch! it has 55,500miles on it. it just seems like sometimes it is hard to put it in a gear. reverse feels alittle funny i dont know if its because its used the least of all the gears but it doesnt feel the same as putting it in 1st. even 1st sometimes feels like it has one click into the gear and then two hard to explain. i dont know if it gets caught on something small for a second but i just notice it sometimes. never had a Manual Car before this you know but i think it should be ok.

That click is it passing through the gate, past the syncros and into the gear. Perfectly normal unless you have to really force it in.

Stick some DOT 4 brake fluid in it.

Suck it out with a bulb syringe, stick more fluid in, drive, repeat as necessary.

My cousin's GTO was acting stupid while shifting it...he changed the fluid and has no more problems... Happens pretty often with a hydraulic clutch, especially on LS1/LS2s for some reason.

Question, do you have this problem in every gear? If so, it sounds like the clutch is not disengaging from the flywheel. I doubt all the syncros would go bad at one time. So, as mentioned, looking at the slave cylinder/hydraulic throwout bearing assembly would be in order.

If the problem is between just a couple of gears, then it could be a syncro problem or bent shifter rail.

Just a comment on the pilot bearing/bushing.....as I understand it....the bearing is worse for coming apart than the bushing. I've seen many pilot bearings give up the ghost compared the bushing. When I upgraded my clutch to an SLP unit, I didn't go with the bearing....I put a new bushing in it.
