Shifting into first on an auto

I noticed when I got the car it has PRN(D)D2 on the shfiter. I popped up the console piece there and looked at the shifter, and it looks like it could shift into first, but I can't tell what is stopping it. Is it the shifter itself or the transmission isn't capable of doing it? If it is the shifter is there anyway I can modify it to make it shift into first?

Thanks a ton.

yeah it can be done, i think it depends on what gears you car came with. 2.73, no 1st on shifter. mine came with 3.23 so i have p r n od d 2 1 on my shifter. I think there's a plastic piece that's blocking it on yours. Search for it, Im sure it'll come up.

It's a obvious black rubber block just on the inside. Turn your electronics on with your key and try to pull into 1st to make sure 100% what is blocking it. Once located, get a sharp kitchen knife and saw it off with ease. Took me about 2 minutes for the whole thing.

Shift Mod

The photos are not the best but it will give you an idea of what needs to be done. Once you have the auto gear selector visible, when you move the selector back towards first, you will see it "stop" on a small squarish plastic piece....
Warning: removal of this piece has been know to shorten rear tire life.

Ahahahah! Gotta love it. Thanks for the tips guys, I foundt he plastic piece, just wasn't sure that was the ONLY thing stopping it. Didn't know if the shift cable was shortened as well or what. Thank you.
