Shifting hard

Hey. I have a '98 automatic V6 and recently I have noticed if I drive my car for about half an hour, and then stop, and go, when it shifts into second gear it does it really really hard. Like the whole car kind of jerks. Transmission going bad, or would a new filter possibly take care of it?

Thanks

Re: Shifting hard

Changed the transmission filter/fluid today. Didn't help any. Dang!

Re: Shifting hard

What did the old fluid look like? Burnt smelling, or black? Was there any black sediment in the bottom of the pan? These are all signs of something going in the transmission.

There's a possibility that if the fluid looked good, you might be dealing with a broken 1-2 accumulator spring.
