I have a 93 camaro with a 89 700r4 in it.And yes it can be done,I did it.Well,it shifts at 2500 3000.Theres a shift kit in it,but dont know what one.I bought it with 1000 miles on it and he didnt remember what all was done.Could it be the shift kit or mabey tv cable not adjusted right?And it snaps your neck pretty good.

 

Um...The governor controls the shifts in a 700R4. Did you use the original governor out of the '93 transmission? Your TV cable adjustment will also contribute. We set our TV cables to achieve shifts at 15-18 MPH, on the 1-2 and 35-38 MPH, on the 2-3...under normal throttle. Did you use the TV cable off the '93 unit?
How did you set up your lock-up wiring? The 700 plug and 4L60 harnesses are different. I hope it has lock-up...otherwise, you'll toast the 3-4 clutches pretty quickly.

I swapped wiring and new converter,and reused my tv cable.Also,it seams to lockup ok .Drove it all day yesterday on and off highway.I adjusted tv cable by unlocking it at locktab and pushing it out of the hole,then pressed on gas till pedal hit floor.It clicked about two times.Any other ideas?Oh, it came with a new converter, but no clue if it is a stall.

 

I adjusted the tv again, now its shifting at 10 mph from 1st.Im almost outa gas, so gotta fill up then try, try again.Should switch the governor out of my 93 to my new tranny?Edit:Adjusted it to shift at 15 at 1-2 and 30 at 2-3.Cant seam to get any more adjustment out of it.and it shifts at 2200.

 

Well i got my answer all by myself.Took it to a few tranny shops ,they all said its ok,its just the shift kit.Its shifting at 15,30 and 45- 50 for overdrive.
