Shifter Options: 97 SS 6-spd w/Hurst

I'm looking for a shorter throw shifter than the Hurst that came in the car. Are there any out there that's "better" than the Hurst?

Pro 5.0 worked well in my 94 when it still had the 6-speed. It replaced a Hurst Comp + aftermarket shifter. The Pro 5.0 stick has enough threads on it to shorten it another 1" if you want.

Thunder Racing offers a number of popular choices.

Go with mgw they are the best shifters hands down.

MGW had some trouble with the centering springs but is well liked.

I feel like the factory Hurst is a pretty good shifter (I had the Pro 5.0 in my previous '97 Z28) if you just want a shorter throw, I'd look at the Lou's Short Stick. I have the factory Hurst and Lou's Short Stick in my '97 SS and love it.

Old pic, but you get the idea.
